Hole in the wall Fires
When interior designers invented the concept of ‘streamlining’, fireplaces were their biggest challenge.
Whilst many people love the imposing presence of their stove or fireplace, the minimalists wanted something that became part of the environment itself. Since then, the styles and designs of what have been termed ‘Hole in the Wall’ fireplaces have grown exponentially. Sleek, sophisticated, surprising and guaranteed to be a talking point, these fireplaces still command a room, even in their modern and minimalist designs.
Beyond the ‘streamlining’, these fireplaces provide flexibility – the ability to place a fire where there is maybe no natural floor area to do so. If you have wall space, we can find a way to make it a fire space.
Available in both gas, electric and solid fuel, there is simply no limit to the ingenuity of these contemporary fireplaces.
Currently one of the biggest trends in this style is the hole in the wall woodburner. Companies such as Stovax, Barbas Bellfires and Michael Miller have developped ‘cassettes’ which sit flush into a chimney breast and give a large viewing area without the need to fit a fireplace which in some cases takes up too much room.
